Layer Provenance & History

Seam stores the settings of every generation with the created layer: model, prompt, seed, and the parameter values used. This record is called layer provenance. A good result is never lost, because you can restore its exact setup later.

How to restore a setup

   Select a generated layer in your document.

   Click the Load settings from the selected layer button in the Seam panel.

   The plugin switches to the matching tab and restores the model, the prompt, and its model settings: aspect ratio, resolution, seed, quality, thinking level, guidance, steps, scale factor, creativity, and resemblance.

If the layer carries a setting the model you are on now does not offer, that one field is left as it is instead of being emptied. Reference images and the number of variations are not restored, since those describe a run rather than a setup.

Provenance is always on and needs no setting. The records live in the plugin's own data folder and survive a plugin reset.

Prompt history

The plugin keeps a list of your sent prompts, separately for each tab. Click the history button, then an entry, to load it back into the text field. The length is set under Prompt history in the plugin settings: none, 10, 20, 50, or 100 entries. The default is 50, and "none" hides the history button entirely.

Undo and redo for the prompt field

The text field has its own undo and redo buttons. They restore larger changes, for example deleted text, an applied preset, or an enhanced prompt. Normal typing does not create undo steps, and the Photoshop undo history is not affected.
