Upscale: Increase Resolution

The Upscale tab increases the resolution of an image. The models rebuild detail at the larger size instead of stretching pixels. This is useful for print, tight crops, or older material.

How to upscale

   Select the layer you want to enlarge, or make a selection.

   Choose an upscale model and set the scale factor or a target resolution.

   Click Generate. The result is placed as a new layer.

The dedicated upscalers work without a description, so the text field is hidden for them. Only Clarity accepts one.

Upscale mode

The SeedVR upscalers offer two ways to set the size:

• Factor (default): A multiplier. The output is your image multiplied by the factor in each direction, so a factor of 2 makes it four times the area.
• Target: A fixed height from 720p to 2160p. The target resolution field only counts in this mode.

Models in the Upscale tab

• SeedVR Upscaler (default): For photos and realistic images, and the cheapest upscaler by a wide margin. Scale factor 1 to 10, or a target resolution from 720p to 2160p. A noise scale setting controls how much grain is added back, so the result does not look plastic.
• SeedVR Seamless Upscaler: Same as SeedVR, but keeps repeating patterns intact. For textures and patterns that are meant to tile.
• Clarity Upscaler: Rebuilds fine detail such as skin, fabric, or foliage and can add new detail. Scale factor 1 to 4. Creativity controls how much new detail may be invented, resemblance how closely the result must match the original. Accepts an optional description and a negative prompt (things the model should avoid). If you leave the text field empty and press Enhance, it describes your image for you.
• Crystal Upscaler: Enlarges with as little change to the original as possible. Scale factor up to 200, and a creativity setting that starts at 0. A good choice when nothing should change except the size, for example product photos.
• Topaz Creative Upscaler: Enlarges up to four times and invents believable new detail while doing so. Creativity runs from 1 to 9. Auto prompt lets the upscaler write its own description of your image and use it to guide the new detail; turning it off keeps the result closer to what is already there. Keep colors holds the colors of the original while detail is added. This is the most expensive upscaler.
• Nano Banana 2.1, Nano Banana Pro, GPT-Image-2: These re-render the image with a generative model instead of enlarging it. You can type a short note to guide the result, this is optional. In this tab they run at their top setting automatically, 4K for the Nano Banana models and high quality for GPT-Image-2.
