Seam Documentation
Seam is a plugin that adds AI image generation, editing, and upscaling as a panel inside Adobe Photoshop (version 27.0 or newer). These guides cover installation, the three tabs — Create, Edit, and Upscale — and every setting around them.
Getting Started
Features
- Create: Generate ImagesHow the Create tab generates AI images inside Photoshop: available models, reference images, aspect ratio, resolution, seed, and variations.
- Edit: Change Existing ImagesHow the Edit tab changes part of an image with AI: selections, layer masks, Sample All Layers, Remove Background, and Relight.
- Upscale: Increase ResolutionHow the Upscale tab increases image resolution inside Photoshop with SeedVR, Clarity, and Crystal upscalers, or generative re-rendering.
- Prompt EnhanceHow Prompt Enhance rewrites a short idea into a detailed, model-ready prompt. Runs on Google Gemini and is free on every plan.
- Auto Mask (Beta)How Auto Mask (beta) detects the main object of your prompt and applies it as a Photoshop layer mask after generation.
- Preview & CommitHow Preview & Commit renders a low-cost draft first and produces the full-resolution image only when the direction is right.
Workflow
- Output & PlacementHow Seam places results into Photoshop: Smart Objects, placement modes, selection masks, fit to canvas, and color profile handling.
- Prompt & Reference LibrariesHow local prompt presets and cloud reference libraries work in Seam, including shared team style references and library context notes.
- Layer Provenance & HistoryHow layer provenance stores model, prompt, seed, and settings on every generated layer so you can restore an exact setup later.
