How do I remove a background in Photoshop with AI?

In Seam, open the Edit tab and pick Background Removal. It needs no prompt. The cutout is placed into your document as a new layer, and the original layer stays untouched.

Can I keep the original pixels instead of deleting the background?

Yes. With the "Apply as mask" option, Seam keeps every original pixel and hides the background behind a layer mask, so the cutout stays fully reversible and you can refine the mask by hand.

Can I replace a background rather than remove it?

Yes, that is a normal edit. Select the background with any Photoshop tool, describe the new one in the Edit tab, and the result comes back masked to your selection. Auto Mask (beta) can also attach an object mask to a generated layer.

Does background removal cost credits?

Yes, Background Removal is a model like any other and consumes credits per run. It is one of the cheapest operations in Seam.

Replacing a background
